In order to fulfill this need TV tray tables were invented. TV tray tables have been around since 1950s and first national advertisement for TV tray table appeared in 1952. Infact the phrase tray table means to fold away tray and TV tray table is a type of collapsible furniture that provides a surface area for holding meal while watching television that functions as a small portable and easily folding table.
The inventor of TV tray table is unknown but the product consists of two pieces; a metal or wooden tray with grips and set of tabular legs having rubberized tips at the bottom. The grips clipped on the legs which could be opened to support the tray or collapsed for storage. During storage the tray is supported by one clipped leg.
